Cloquet woman faces child sex charge
Misdemeanor charges filed in Douglas County Circuit Court against a Cloquet woman accuse her of having sex with a 16-year-old male during a camping trip in the Wascott.
Marlene May Draper, 24, faces charges of sexual intercourse with a child, resisting an officer and four counts of bail jumping.
According to the criminal complaint:
Draper is accused of having sexual contact with a 16-year-old on a July camping trip with the teen and his family in Wascott.
When Draper appeared in court Aug. 27 on an unrelated matter, Deputy Matt Izzard informed her she was under arrest. She fled from Izzard, running from the third floor to the first floor entrance and attempting to get outside the courthouse. She did not stop, despite Izzard's commands, until she was physically apprehended.
Draper is also facing misdemeanor charges of battery, bail jumping and operating while revoked from unrelated incidents. As a condition of her bail in those cases, Draper is not to commit any new crimes.
Cash bail of $2,000 was set for Draper and she was ordered to have no contact with the 16-year-old. She remained in custody Thursday at the Douglas County Jail. Her next court appearance is set for today.
