Telegram retracts story
A story on the cover of Friday's Telegram written by a student at the University of Wisconsin-Superior is fully retracted by the Telegram. The story's writer, Zach Brunner, according to the real Rachel Hahn of Eau Claire, Wis., an English teacher in Elk Mound, Wis., was a student of hers for three years; however, the details of the story appear to be a fictionalized account of Hahn that possibly included details of another Elk Mound teacher's life. The Telegram now believes the story to be a work of fiction, not genuine journalism, from a student enrolled in a journalism class. The Telegram apologizes to our readers for a good-faith effort to offer an interesting story, and to Rachel Hahn for the fictionalized story that bore her name.
