Spring calls for city cleanup

Although the weather can't make up its mind whether it wants to play nice, that's not stopping hundreds of residents from racing to our great lake to participate in smelt run. Rumor has it they are spawning really well this year. Also, if you are a Superior resident, be ready for the start of spring cleanup on Monday. As always, we like to keep you aware of upcoming events on our calendar. One item of Douglas County government is scheduled for next week.

The Administration Committee meets 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Room 207C of the Douglas County Courthouse, 1313 Belknap St., Superior. Members of the committee include Nick Baker, Mary Lou Bergman, Marvin Finendale, Douglas Finn, Rosemary Lear, Larry Quam, and Patricia Ryan. Alan Jaques is vice chairman. Former chairman, Jim Paine, is now serving as the city's mayor and resigned his County Board Post. A detailed agenda for the meeting is available at douglascountywi.org/agendacenter.
