Rebirth, renewal --EMDASH-- time to consider capital projects

Not to be confused with spring forward — the return of Daylight Saving Time — two weeks ago, it is now officially spring as of Monday.

Spring reflects the ideas of rebirth and renewal. Wherever you are, don't look back to the past but look to the future and make the most out of every day.

We will certainly do our part and effectively serve the people of Douglas County.

We have two items on our calendar for next week.

Forest, Parks, and Recreation Committee meets at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Forestry Headquarters, 9182 E. Hughes Ave., Solon Springs. Some action items include the approval of use of pesticides on county property, and the 2017 capital improvement project request for the forestry department.

Our capital projects refers to any project each department proposes, with the approval of the administration committee, that fulfills a need for the department. The projects are implemented annually.

Also, the Public Safety Committee meets at 4 p.m. Thursday in Room 207C of the Douglas County Courthouse, 1313 Belknap St., Superior. The committee will be addressing their capital project requests. They will also be talking about new drug crime statistics and ways to make the county safer.
