Minnesota man dies in Gordon snowmobile crash
A Minnesota man died as a result of a snowmobile crash Saturday evening in Gordon. The crash was reported at 7:28 p.m. on Cabin Lane to the east of Conner’s Meadow Road, according to a news release issued by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Robert Kaye, 70, of Afton, Minn., was operating a snowmobile that left the roadway and struck trees. The crash was not witnessed, but was discovered when members of his riding party went back to look for him after he failed to arrive at a checkpoint. Lifesaving efforts administered were unsuccessful and the victim was declared deceased at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Douglas County Sheriff's and Medical Examiner’s offices, and the Wisconsin DNR.
Also responding to the scene were the Gordon/Wascott Ambulance, Gordon and Wascott volunteer fire departments, and Gold Cross Ambulance.
