NCAA: Bemidji State knocks off top-seeded Notre Dame

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Tyler Scofield had two goals and an assist, and Matt Dalton made 34 saves to help Bemidji State beat top-seeded Notre Dame 5-1 on Saturday night in the NCAA hockey Midwest Regional.

The fourth-seeded Beavers (19-15-1) will face third-seeded Cornell in the regional final Sunday night.

Scofield, Chris McKelvie and Ben Kinne scored to give Bemidji State a 3-0 lead after two periods, and the Beavers made it 4-0 on Matt Read's short-handed goal 49 seconds into the third. Dan Kissel scored for Notre Dame (31-6-3), and Scofield completed the scoring with an empty-net goal.

Jordan Pearce made 14 saves for the Irish.

New Hampshire 6, North Dakota 5, OT

Peter LeBlanc scored 45 seconds into overtime to give third-seeded New Hampshire a comeback victory over North Dakota in the NCAA Northeast Regional in Manchester, N.H.

New Hampshire tied it with a tenth of a second left in regulation. With goalie Brian Foster off for an extra attacker, Thomas Fortney poked a shot past North Dakota goalie Brad Eidsness to force overtime.

In overtime, Jerry Pollastrone led a 2-on-1 break into the Sioux zone, slid a perfect pass to LeBlanc in the high slot, and LeBlanc blasted a one-timer past Eidsness' glove for his second goal of the game.

Pollastrone, Mike Sislo and Greg Collins also scored, and Foster made 40 saves for the Wildcats (20-12-5. Chris VandeVeld scored twice, and Jason Gregoire, Brad Malone and Ryan Duncan added goals for the Sioux (24-15-4).

Boston University 8, Ohio State 3

Jason Lawrence and Zach Cohen each scored twice, and Matt Gilroy had a career-high four assists for top-seeded Boston University.

Nick Bonino added a goal and two assists, Brandon Yip and Chris Higgins each had a goal and an assist, and Corey Trivino also scored for the Terriers (32-6-4).

Hunter Bishop, Zach Pelletier and Matt Bartkowski scored for Ohio State (23-15-4).

Cornell 3, Northeastern 2

Evan Barlow scored with 17.2 seconds left to give Cornell a victory over Northeastern in the NCAA Midwest Regional in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Cornell (22-9-4) overcame a 2-0 deficit, pulling within one on Blake Gallagher's goal late in the second period, and tying it on Colin Greening's power-play goal with 3:56 left in the third. Louis Liotti and Steve Silva scored for Northeastern (25-12-4).

Cornell goalie Ben Scrivens made 19 saves, and Brad Thiessen stopped 29 shots for Northeastern.
