CHURCH: Faith, like childbirth, takes hard work
I know I talked about the birth of my new baby last week, but I hope you'll indulge me as I draw another analogy this week.
Giving birth to a baby is no easy task. Now, while I don't have first-hand knowledge, I can see that it's true in my wife and many other women.
First of all, there's nine months of pregnancy. Then there's several hours of labor. In the end, though, it's worth all of the effort and pain because of what is produced -- a beautiful little baby.
In the same way, our faith is not something easy. In fact, our life of faith can be filled with many trials and tribulations. The Lord promised, in fact, that we would have many troubles and trials but that we could take heart because He has overcome the world.
What this means is that in those times when life seems to get us down, we can be encouraged and draw strength from the fact that as we live out our faith in Christ. He will give us the strength to overcome.
Now, if we give up, we will not be able to see the fruit of our labor. That fruit is an eternity in heaven. So continue to live out your faith and reap the blessing of a vital relationship with God.
