A Superior man who served his country during World War II will be remembered with a flag raising ceremony at 9 a.m. Friday in front of the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center. The public is invited to attend. The flag will fly in his honor for a week.

World War II veteran Herbert T. Zimmer receives Veteran Lifetime Achievement Award. In a ceremony during the Oct. 16 meeting of the Wisconsin Board of Veterans Affairs in Brookfield, Wis., Herbert “Herb” T. Zimmer of Rice Lake was presented the Veteran Lifetime Achievement Award for October.
