The Chamber president and chief executive officer had an epiphany while addressing students at Superior High School more than a decade ago when a student told him it was businesses responsibility to support the schools.
When kids had no place to grind but the streets of Superior or small skate parks in Duluth, it was a group of youths just like them who took the lead to do something about it. When the city started talking about it with the city’s youth, it was Superior: A Community for Youth who picked up the ball to design, plan and fundraise.

Girl Scout Troop 4399 donates $500 to the American Red Cross Haiti rescue.
Leader Kathy Polanka and eight of the troop members brought the donation to the telethon held at the U.S. Bank in downtown Duluth. Troop 4399 has been saving their cookie funds for a trip to Washington D.C. in 2012 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting.
