UWS to host Merrill Thompson Tip-Off Classic
The men’s basketball tournament begins Saturday with St. Scholastica facing UW-River Falls at 5 p.m., followed by the UW-Superior Yellowjackets tangling with Concordia College. All four teams will return to action on Sunday with a 3 p.m. tip-off between Concordia and River Falls, and at 5 pm, the ’Jackets and Saints will square off in their annual “border battle.”

Honoring amateur philanthropy
“Hunger Takes No Holiday” lives up to its name. Although the annual fundraiser for Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank officially runs from Groundhog’s Day to May Day, money is trickling in for the 2013 campaign from Superior High School and University of Wisconsin-Superior fundraisers.

What I witnessed Friday night at Ole Haugsrud Field was pretty incredible. River Falls and the Superior High School Spartans battled back and forth for that night’s supremacy on the football field. What a game it was.
