In his 18 years as head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, Bud Grant became well known for his even and unemotional temperament.
Wednesday at Superior High School, he showed a different side as he cracked jokes and shared stories from his childhood growing up in Superior.
The Vikings grabbed Floyd with the 23rd pick, Rhodes with the 25th and then gave up second, third, fourth and seventh round picks to New England to get back into the first round and take Patterson at No. 29, capping a dizzying 30-minutes at the end of the first night of the draft.

The Vikings agreed to terms with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel on Thursday, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because it had not been officially announced. It's been a busy day for the Vikings, who also were hosting Green Bay Packers free agent receiver Greg Jennings for a visit.
