A proposal to develop Wisconsin’s first major taconite mine and processing center in southern Ashland and Iron counties is opposed by nearly two-thirds of the people surveyed by a team of University of Wisconsin-Superior economists.
Today, the Wisconsin legislature’s Joint Finance Committee debates and votes on the Republican mining bill. That debate will be carried live on Wisconsin Eye (www.wiseye.org) and Wisconsin Public Radio stations KUWS 91.3 FM in Superior and WUWS 90.9 FM in Ashland.
