MADISON — The 12,900 private-sector jobs Wisconsin employers created last month not only bring our state’s tally to 39,300 in six months, but they reflect the biggest one-month gain for Wisconsin’s private sector since September 2003.

Funding is available for qualifying apprentices and journey workers from the Wisconsin’s Sector Alliance for the Green Economy (SAGE) grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Labor. The Northwest Wisconsin Workforce Investment Board, Inc. was allotted $204,500 to aid in implementation of this project.
The Wisconsin Safety Council, the state’s leading provider of safety training and programming, and the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development announced the 15 companies who beat out 151 applicants to win this year’s Wisconsin Corporate Safety award.
The state is stepping up pressure on assistant district attorneys to fulfill a requirement they take furlough days that other state employees were required to take last year. The state is notifying them their jobs will be reduced by 20 percent.
