The University of Wisconsin-Superior women’s basketball team defeated the College of St. Scholastica Saints 74-63 Monday night at the Reif Center in Duluth. The women’s game was the first game of a doubleheader between UWS and CSS. The Yellowjacket men completed the sweep with an 86-72 win in the nightcap.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL: It is extremely rare to have a player return two interceptions for touchdowns in a single game, so to have two players accomplish the feat this season is almost unheard of, especially when both players come from the same hometown.
COLLEGE HOCKEY: NCAA Division I college hockey wasn’t the only landscape to undergo an upheaval this year. The smaller schools will find out just how much impact the creation of a new conference will have on them as the 2013-14 season kicks off this weekend.
Wisconsin-Superior held on for a 4-3 college men's hockey victory over St. Scholastica on Thursday in the final Northern Collegiate Hockey Association matchup between the rivals as the league will dissolve after the season.
Jarrod Peterson led the Yellowjackets with a game-high 19 points. Former Northwestern Tiger Aaron Corry was next, coming off the bench to score a career-high 15 points. Brendan Bauer added nine points and Bronson Byrne had six.
