For 41 years, Aqua Hut has been a go-to place for pets. You’d be hard-pressed to find a Douglas County resident who hasn’t stopped by the Superior store for a fish, a bag of dog treats, meal worms or just to look at the pets.
Kain may need a little attention, but those who know him say he’s worth it.
“He is a honey,” said Sheila Keup, shelter manager for the Humane Society of Douglas County. “He is one of my favorite dogs here.” The 1-year-old pit bull mix, she said, is “sweet as can be,” and gets along well with other dogs, cats and kids.
Margie Bouchard was 5 years old when she ran across what she thought was a friendly dog outside her home in Brule in 1959. She’d been playing with her pet dog Peanuts, a Brittany spaniel, when the animal came out of the woods.
A pet beagle was injured by wolves in the town of Dairyland on July 18, according to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The attack occurred on private land. No caution area map was created.
