Northwestern students attend national convention in Florida
Northwestern High School FCCLA (Family, Career, Community Leaders of America) students and their adviser, Kathy Lahti, attended the national conference and competition in Orlando, Fla., July 8-12. They joined about 6,800 members, advisers, alumni and guests. The convention theme was “#reality check” and throughout the five-day convention participants examined and discussed several critical issues, including family, school and community violence prevention, physical as well as financial fitness, future career exploration, countless community service projects and were able to hear several amazing speakers.

LETTER: ‘Night Out’ midtown success
To the Telegram: National Night Out was successful in the midtown area last week. Nearly 100 people gathered to meet or reconnect with families in our neighborhood. Root beer floats, a kick-ball game until it was too dark to see, visits from local law enforcement, laughter and conversation made for an enjoyable evening for all.
