As snow melts and temperatures rise, local green thumbs have begun itching. “I’ve talked to a lot of people who are anxious,” said Jane Anklam, horticulture and agriculture educator with the University of Wisconsin-Extension. “They’re more ready to grow in the garden than the garden is ready for it.”

It took a cancer diagnoses for Mitch Dzikonski to consider flying. The 30-year-old Superior man always had concerns regarding airplanes. According to him, it stems from his fear of death. But on Jan. 28, Dzikonski was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and his priorities shifted.

A Northwestern High School graduate has been elected as Dane County’s newest judge. Rhonda Lanford received 52.3 percent of the votes, beating Dane County Circuit Judge Rebecca St. John, who was appointed in August by Gov. Scott Walker.
