UW-Superior names four finalists for men’s basketball head coaching position
The University of Wisconsin-Superior narrowed its search for a new men’s basketball head coach to four finalists. The four finalists are Josh Drinkall, current head assistant coach at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn.; Paul Eberhardt, head coach at Scottsdale Community College in Scottsdale, Ariz. from 2002-2010; Jeff Nicholas, the top men’s basketball assistant at the University of Minnesota Duluth since 2006; and Greg Polkowski, who played for the Yellowjackets from 2003-08 and has recently been coaching in the Milwaukee area.

Friday is the ideal day to trade car keys for pedal power. From 6:30-8:30 a.m., volunteers are handing out snacks to bicycle commuters at two Superior parks, Heritage Park at 2828 Hammond Ave. and City Center Park at the corner of Tower Avenue and Belknap Street. Free bike safety checks are offered at City Center Park as well during Bike to Work/School Day.

To the Telegram: Superior resident Bud Brand has gained notoriety recently as an amateur poet. Over the past two years, he has had two poems printed by the Minneapolis Star Tribune, three of his works have appeared in the “Poetry Corner” section of the Duluth News Tribune, and on nine occasions his writings have been used by former UW-Superior professor Dr. Bernie Hughes in his “Aging” column in the Superior Telegram.
