Elma V. Anderson, 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, after a long struggle with dementia/Alzheimer's at St. Francis Home in the Park, Superior, with her family by her side.
Elma was born May 6, 1919, to Andrew and Hilma Frasa in Oulu, Wis. She married George Anderson on Aug. 14, 1940, and celebrated 60 years of marriage before her husband passed away in 2000.
They resided at different farms in Illinois until moving to the family farm in Port Wing, Wis. later moving to Lakeside, then Superior.
Elma enjoyed gardening, flowers, berries, working with cattle, visiting neighbors, baking, cooking, reading and being with her family.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Port Wing, Wis., Peace Lutheran Church in Poplar, Wis. and Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Superior.
Elma was preceded in death by her husband George; her parents; three brothers, Armas, Wilho and Urho; four sisters, Mary, Lily, Lempi and Hilja.
She is survived by two sons, Alfred (Shirley) Anderson, Racine, Wis., Don (Lorene) Anderson, Maple, Wis.; grandchildren, Julie (Don) Curtin, Racine, Wis., Debbie (Steve) Schaefer, Franksville, Wis., Danny Anderson, Milwaukee, Wis., Sherrie (Mike) Burke, Poplar, Wis., Marc (fiancé, Amy Wermter) Anderson, Hawthorne, Wis.; great-grandchildren, Sarah and Ryan Curtin; Taylor, Ryan and Morgan Anderson; Shaylee and Brody Burke; her sisters-in-law, Gladys Rogers, Superior, Elsie Wick, Superior, Dorothy Jensen, Webster, Wis. and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 12 noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service on Friday, Aug.16 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home. Rev. Chuck Ells of Lakeside Baptist Church will officiate.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Port Wing, Wis.
