Lucille “Lou” Henrikson, 87, of Appleton, Wis., passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Brewster Village, Appleton.
Lou was born on July 28, 1925, in Superior to the late Walter and Emma (Lucacere) Hunter. She married Gordon Henrikson on April 19, 1947, in Superior. Lou was an accomplished Duplicate Bridge player, earning a Life Master title. During World War II, she contributed to the war effort as a welder in the ship building plant in Superior. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family and was an accomplished seamstress; she made many of her own clothes and draperies. Even into her senior years, Lou was well-known for her sharp wit and great sense of humor.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Gordon; her children, Lynne (Mike) Kroll, Greenville, Wis., Dave Henrikson, Appleton, Wis., Dan (Donna) Henrikson, Eau Claire, Wis. and Rick (Dorene) Henrikson, Greenville, Wis.; her grandchildren, Tracey, Lesley and Danny; her two great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 13 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street, Appleton, Wis., with Rev. Don Gigure officiating. Entombment was in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton, Wis. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com
