Madelyn “Maddy” Hersey McMahon, 91, of Superior, died March 16, 2013.

Madelyn “Maddy” Hersey McMahon, 91, of Superior, died March 16, 2013.

She was born on Jan. 29, 1922 to Marie and Arthur Hersey in Minneapolis, Minn., the youngest of six siblings, all of whom preceded her in death. Maddy married John W. “Jack” McMahon on Feb. 19, 1944, in Great Falls, Mont. He died Oct. 28, 2001.

Madelyn was a dedicated member of the Catholic Church until 2002, most recently a member of St. Anthony’s Church in Superior and prior to that, St. William’s Church in Pattison Park.

In addition to her husband, Maddy was preceded in death by her son, Michael Scott McMahon in 1978; and her grandsons, Christopher P. McMahon in 1986 and Michael John McMahon in 2009.

Maddy is survived by her children, Jack (Lynda) McMahon of Lake Kabetogama, Minn., Lynn (Al) Dunton of Fort Collins, Colo., Nancy Whitmore, Pat (Beth) McMahon, Tim (Laurie) McMahon all of Marshalltown, Iowa, Tom McMahon of Des Moines, Iowa, Mary (Jim) Benesch of South Range, Jeanie (Q) McLean of Fridley, Minn. and Dan (Karen) McMahon of Berthoud, Colo. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Maddy will be cremated and her ashes placed beside those of her husband at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Cremation Society of Minnesota, (218) 624-5200.
