Robert S. Johnson, 73, longtime Superior area resident, died Friday, March 1, 2013 unexpectedly in his home.
Robert S. Johnson, 73, longtime Superior area resident, died Friday, March 1, 2013 unexpectedly in his home.
He was born on Jan. 26, 1940 in Chicago, Ill. to Stanley and Florence (Gore) Johnson.
Following his graduation, Bob went on to get his certification as an electrician.
He served his country in the Minnesota Air National Guard.
Bob married Ann Marie Swanson on Oct. 21, 1961 in Port Wing, Wis. and celebrated 51 years of marriage.
He was employed as an electrician for Continental Grain Elevators for many years before his retirement.
Bob was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was well known for his collection of sports memorabilia and antiques. He enjoyed cooking and the occasional trip to the casino. He loved watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports.
In addition to his wife Ann Marie, Bob is survived by four sons, Stuart Johnson, Superior, David (Michelle) Johnson, Farmington, Minn., Chad (Denelle) Johnson, Superior, Cory (Stephanie) Johnson, Superior; eight grandchildren, Bridgette, Sydney, Gunner, Jacob, Jordan, Lauren, Paige and Carter; one great-grandchild, Avery; two brothers, Dale (Nancy) Johnson, Port Wing, Wis., Terry (Debra) Johnson, Mountain Iron, Minn. and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will begin at 12 Noon and continue until the 2 p.m. memorial service on Saturday, March 9 at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Patrick Ziems, officiating.
Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
