Forrest D. White, 89, a former longtime resident of Superior died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013 in White Pines Assisted Living, White Bear Lake, Minn.

Forrest D. White, 89, a former longtime resident of Superior died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013 in White Pines Assisted Living, White Bear Lake, Minn.

Forrest was born to Mureen (Anderson) and David White in Proctor on Dec. 29, 1923, but lived most of his life in the Superior area, graduating from Superior Central High School in 1941.

He served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corp.

On June 2, 1956 he and Betty R. Peterson were united in marriage. She preceded him in death on Sept. 22, 1996.

Forrest retired in 1988 as a welder/fabricator at Superior Lidgerwood-Mundy Corp.

He had been an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Boilermaker's Lodge No. 117; AMI of Douglas County; the American Legion Post No. 435; AARP; the Superior Senior Citizen's Center; and he served four years on the board of Wisconsin Coalition for Advocacy.

Forrest especially enjoyed travel and spending time at the cabin with all the family connections.

Surviving him are two sons, Dale F. White of Duluth, and Dean D. (Erin K.) White of White Bear Lake, Minn.; a daughter, Ann M. White of Minneapolis, Minn.; and four grandchildren, Jason, Alisa, Anna and Raymond Forrest.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the 2 p.m. memorial service Thursday, Feb. 7 in Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Rev. Sarah Kerkes officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post No. 435. Committal prayers will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in the spring.

If desired, memorials in Forrest's name may be made to Our Savior's Lutheran Church Building Fund.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. Remember your folks well from Maryland Ave. and babysitting all of you kids. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Bonnie (Fennessey) Nolan

I had the honor of working with your Dad for a few years at Fraser back in the 80's. He was a nice person with a wry sense of humor. There's been many people that worked there that passed too early in life and it appears Forrest was one of them. I will miss him, Smokey
