Alice L. Werner, 94, of Los Lunas, New Mexico and formerly of Superior, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013, in Presbyterian Hospital, Los Lunas, N.M.
She was born April 11, 1918, in Superior, daughter of Hans and Olena (Haralson) Midbon.
Alice was a 1936, graduate of Superior Central High School.
Her work history included homemaker and J.C. Penney's as a sales clerk.
One of her life-long interests was dancing, from as early as her high school years. She also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, and participated in a Smear card playing group until a few years ago. She was a league bowler and played golf with her husband until his death.
Alice regularly attended Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Superior. She lived in Billings Park until moving to Los Lunas about three years ago.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Carl Donald "Don" Werner in 1997; sisters, Rachael "Rae", Hilda and Mable; and brothers, Harry, Salmer "Sam", Henry "Hank", Carl and Arthur "Art".
Alice is survived by her son, Gary Werner (married to Leticia Werner), Los Lunas, N.M.; and granddaughter, Lenora Werner, Los Lunas, N.M.
Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1924 Wyoming Avenue, Superior. Rev. Sarah Kerkes will officiate.
Committal prayers will be at Graceland Cemetery, Superior.
Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, is assisting the family with arrangements.
