Neil C. Sanders, 64 of Superior, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2012 at Essentia-St. Mary's in Duluth.

Neil C. Sanders, 64 of Superior, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2012 at Essentia-St. Mary's in Duluth.

Neil was born on June 3, 1948 in Palatine Ill. He most recently resided in Superior at the McKenzie Manor.

Neil enjoyed socializing with his friends and caregivers at McKenzie Manor and the Challenge Center in Superior. He loved watching old movies and listening to music from the 60's. He always looked forward to a week at summer camp and participation in many Special Olympic events.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Josephine Sanders of South Range.

Neil is survived by his brother, Clifton (Cheryl) Sanders of South Range; his sisters, Patricia Sanders of Wauconda, Ill., Sheryl (Raymond) Leak of Alachua, Fla., and Laura (Charles) McBlaine of Eden Prairie, Minn.; special cousins, Terry and Craig Sanders of Hermantown, Kevin (Cindy) Sanders of Duluth, Jackie (Tom) Farm of Hugo, Minn., and Patti (Robert) Aspling of Duluth; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin one hour prior to 4 p.m. memorial service Tuesday, Nov. 13 at Downs Funeral Home. He will be inurned with his parents at Park Hill Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Special Olympics.
