Robert C. Thompson, 73, of Foxboro, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Robert C. Thompson, 73, of Foxboro, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Robert was born on June 27, 1939 in Superior, the son of Viola and Clement Thompson.

Bob had been and educator for 27 years; 26 were at Superior Senior High School until his retirement in 1995. He had been voted "Teacher of the Year" by the senior class of Superior Senior High School four times.

He loved wildlife and the outdoors. He loved hunting, trapping, fishing, wildlife photography and camping out west in the mountains.

Bob was a past committee member of Ducks Unlimited and longtime member of the Douglas County Fish and Game League. He had also served as Chairman of the Douglas County Delegation to Wisconsin Conservation Congress.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Eugene Thompson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ann and Lee Roemer; brother-in-law Rod Rosenbaum; and several aunts and uncles.

Bob is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carole; two sons, Joseph (Jenene) Thompson of Foxboro and Brian Thompson of Crookston, Minn.; special grandson and granddaughter, Tyler and Tabitha; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, Dakota; brothers, Rich (Sally) Thompson and Jack (Linda) Thompson; sisters, Cathy (Dick) Holm and Mary (Bob) Kuntz; sister-in-law, Betty Rosenbaum; many nieces and nephews; and his dog and loyal companion, Casey.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial Mass on Sat. Nov. 10 at St. Williams Catholic Church with Rev. Ronald Olson as celebrant.

Honorary pallbearers will be, Charlie Wright, Jim Waletzko, Bob Pollock, Bob Glockner, Greg Denno, Ed Labernik and Dan Hodnick.

If desired, memorials in Bob's name may be made to Cancer Research.

My condolences to the Thompson famiy. Mr. Thompson was one of my favorite teachers. He had an off beat way of teaching and I always appreciated the fact that teachin and learning was happening even when we didn't know it. I will miss him too. Don Kruger
