Janice M. Anderson, 73, of Superior, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at Essentia-St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth.
Janice M. Anderson, 73, of Superior, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at Essentia-St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth.
Janice was born in Two Harbors, Minn., on Sept. 29, 1939, the daughter of Irene and Alan “Smokey” Carlson.
She enjoyed collecting nautical items, antiquing, and especially shopping at “Tivoli Too.” She also enjoyed playing with her dog Smokey and loved traveling to see her grandchildren. She loved everything about Lake Superior, especially living on the lake and going to agate beach.
Janice and her husband were members of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. They patrolled Lake Superior as volunteer Coast Guard safety patrol members from 1977 until 1985.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Janice is survived by her children, Mary (Mark) Neilson of Portland, Ore., Amy Nelson of Minneapolis, Keith (Rebecca) Nordskog of Solon Springs, and Joy (Robert) Larsen of Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren, Kara Banes-Rowe, Brynna Joplin, Brady and Megan Boaglio, Stacey and Jimmy Nelson, Haley Sheriff, Lily and Allie Nordskog and Karl, Joslin, Cosette, Jack and Clare Larsen; and four great-grandchildren.
Her memorial service will be held on Saturday Nov. 10 at 1:30pm at Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Ave. in Superior. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.
