Our beloved mother, Dorothy Ronning of Superior, Wis. transitioned from this life on Oct. 30, 2012.

Our beloved mother, Dorothy Ronning of Superior, Wis. transitioned from this life on Oct. 30, 2012, while at Villa Marina.

She was born on March 6, 1921, in Superior and lived here all her life. She was the youngest child and only daughter of Emil and Georgianna Stein. In her youth she attended the St. Louis School, then worked in a laundry and a brewery. Dorothy married Ivan Ronning on Aug. 28, 1948, and together they raised seven children. She was a homemaker, mother and friend.

Dorothy enjoyed baking, reading and embroidery as long as she was able. A devout Catholic, she was a member of Holy Assumption Church.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan; her parents; brothers, Albert, George and Floyd Stein; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Ronning.

She is survived by her children, Richard (Carol) of Appleton, Wis, Tony of Superior, Sandra (Gordy) Peterson of Duluth, Marion (Scottie) Brown of Godley, Texas, Marla (Mark) Ellis, Darla (David) Penney and Dorothy (David) Wolden of Superior; 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

We will forever be grateful for the kindness and tender care our dear one received from the staff at Villa Marina. Our hearts are with you Mama.

Visitation from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Friday, Nov. 9th, at Holy Assumption Catholic Church, 5601 Tower Ave.

Should friends desire, memorials may be sent to Holy Assumption Catholic Church. Please indicate Kisa Orphanage in the memo. Arrangements entrusted to Cremation Society of Minnesota, 624-5200.
