Anne Gurine Johnson, 85, of Lake Nebagamon, passed away on Thursday Sept. 27, 2012 at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth.
Anne was born March 12, 1927 in Superior to H. Emanuel and Tilda (Moen) Johnson.
She was educated at the Bennett school finishing at Superior Central High School and earning a teaching degree from UW-Superior.
Anne spent much of her adult life in the Chicago area, working in the education profession in the western suburbs of Chicago. Anne later returned to the Lake Nebagamon area in order to care for her aging mother and remained there at the homestead in her retirement. Anne enjoyed playing piano all her life, out of joy and as an expression of her love for the Lord. She spent many hours each growing season tending the numerous flowerbeds at the family homestead near Lake Minnesuing. Anne was very fond of observing God’s natural wonders of fauna and flora, often telling visitors of birds she had seen or animals that had wandered by.
She is survived by one brother, Milton (Mary) Johnson of Anchorage, Ala.; dear sisters-in-law Lorrayne (Herman Jr.) Johnson of Grand Rapids, Minn. and Marit (Arvid) Johnson of Superior; nine nieces and nephews and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Herman Johnson Jr., Merrill Johnson, Arvid Johnson and Harry Johnson.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 6 at 4:30 p.m. at House of Hope Church in Lake Nebagamon. It will be a time of remembrance and fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Anne’s name may be directed to the Solvay Hospice House of Duluth.
