Phyllis (Hokkala) Stein

On Sept. 4, 2012, Phyllis E. Stein went to sleep in this world and awoke on Sept. 5th in the outstretched arms of her Lord.

On Sept. 4, 2012, Phyllis E. Stein went to sleep in this world and awoke on Sept. 5th in the outstretched arms of her Lord.

She was born on Dec. 15, 1930, Superior. Phyllis spent many years as a vital person at the Solid Rock Mission. In the summer you could find her tending to her beautiful gardens or feeding her large family of squirrels. Phyllis was like a mother to many people, way too many to name. You could find her at The Kitchen nearly every morning at the round table of friends and family.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her mother, Elsie Beckman, father, Abner Hokkala, brother, Marvin Aunt Martha Ristola Aunt Helga Jokinen, her very close friend Sis Skylondz and lastly her poodle FeFe.

She is survived by the love of her life Francis "Ed" Stein, daughters; Linda "Cookie" O'Hara (Dan) Cindy Davies (Chuck) Sue Jarvis, Grandsons; Christopher Davies, Matthew Davies (Athena) a great granddaughter Harper, step-sister Irene Stein, nephew Dennis Jokinen, a special friend Ruthie Dalbec, and Dick Raymond who was like a son to her.

By request of her family there will be no services held.

But when you look at a flower, bird or squirrel or any of God's creatures, think of Phyllis, she is smiling at you from above.

Dear Stein family, Sorry to hear the news of your wife/moms passing. She was an inspiration to us all. She gave more of herself than than anyone I know. She will be greatly missed, but always remembered. Again, my condolences. Gene Borgh
