Eleanor Dumas Nelson 89, of Englewood, Fla., formerly of Superior, died Saturday Sept. 1, 2012 in Venice, Fla..
Eleanor was born to Mose and Anna (Pettit) Dumas on Dec. 28, 1922 in Superior.
She was a graduate of Superior Cathedral High School in 1940. She was a founding member of the A.R.C (Association for retarded citizens) and a lifetime member of the Mom's night out homemakers club.
Eleanor and her husband Ivor owned and operated Berg Drapery Shop in Duluth.
She is survived by a daughter Nancy (Rick) Cornell of Englewood, Fla.; three sons James Nelson of Rotonda, West Fla., Greg Nelson of Kissimmee, Fla. and Edward (Julie) Nelson of Maplewood Minn.; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren; two sisters Virginia Arwine of Tampa Fla. and JoAnn Dumas of Green Bay Wis.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ivor, a son Ivor Nelson Jr.; a daughter Marianne Nelson Patton; a sister Dorothy Shipman and her parents.
Visitation will be from 12:15 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8 in the Downs Funeral Home 19th and Ogden with Rev. Ronald Olson officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Dear Nelson Family, My deepest sympathy for all of you. I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom/grandmother was such a wonderful and talented lady. We are all so lucky to have had her in our lives, she touched us one way or another. Please know I am thinking of you all and my prayers are with you.
