Michael W. "Mike" Loyd, 51. of Omaha, Neb. passed away Aug. 20, 2012 at home in Omaha.
Michael W. "Mike" Loyd, 51. of Omaha, Neb. passed away Aug. 20, 2012 at home in Omaha.
He was born Aug. 25, 1960 to Phyllis (Simi) and Robert W. Loyd
After he graduated from Superior Senior High, he enlisted in the Marines and served 19 years as a Gunnery Sergeant, he was on active duty in the Persian Gulf, Japan, Whidbey Island, Wash., Cherry Point, N.C. and Jacksonville, Tenn., where he was an instructor at a school for troubled kids. From Tennessee, where he was honorably discharged he moved to Superior and served in the National Guard for a year and was then hired and employed as an IT consultant for a company in Omaha.
He was an avid Packers fan and a kind and caring person who will be sadly missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a six year old brother Robert "Bobby" Loyd, Jr., father Robert Wayne Loyd and paternal grandparents Glenn and Ora Loyd, maternal grandparents John and Helen Simi.
He is survived by his mother Phyllis (Simi-Loyd) Kelleher, step-dad David Kelleher; sons Michael Glenn Loyd, Nicholas Allen Loyd; sisters Gailann Chadwick, Nancy (Scott) Parks, Kelly Ann (Scott) Hauswirth; many aunts, uncles and his special pal "Spike" the cat
A "celebration of life" will be held in Superior at a later date.
