Doris Eileen Moen, 83, Superior, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth.

Doris Eileen Moen, 83, Superior, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth.

She was born in Finley, N.D. to the late Joseph and Ellen (Simonson) Gilbertson on Aug. 31, 1928.

She married Kenneth Moen on March 12, 1949 in Grand Forks, N.D. and they moved to Superior in 1971.

Doris was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church for many years. She loved to read, plant flowers, spend time with her family, especially watch movies with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed writing and receiving letters.

She is survived by one son Richard (Jane Hoffer) Moen, Superior; one daughter, Kristy (Michael) Dettle, Fridley, Minn.; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt) Brooks, Kelly Dettle, Karen Dettle, Jason Moen and her great-grandchildren, Kadence Moen and Neveah Moen.

In addition to her husband Kenneth, Doris is preceded in death by her parents, a son Randy Jay Moen and a brother, James Gilbertson.

Doris brought joy to everyone she met and was loved dearly by her family and friends.

Visitation will begin at 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, Aug. 18 at Zion Lutheran Church, Superior with Rev. Patrick Ziems, officiating.

Burial will be in the Memorial South Cemetery in Grand Forks, N.D. at a later date.

Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
