Harold "Pat" Schachte, age 67 of Greenfield, Wis. found peace on Aug. 9, 2012 surrounded by his family after a brief struggle with leukemia.
"Pat" was a beloved husband and friend of Eileen (Lagae) for 41 years. Loving father of Matt Schachte of Milwaukee, Wis., Erica (Chris) Nagra of Kalamazoo, Mich. and Allison (Adam) Larson of Wyocena, Wis.. Proud "Papa" to Trevor and Evan Nagra and Grandpa to Mae, Cora and Etta Larson.
Pat is survived by siblings Barbara Danielson, Bill Schachte, Richard Schachte and Scott (Michelle) Schachte, all of Superior. Further survivors are brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Dolores Lagae of Nekoosa, Wis. as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Julia Schachte, his in-laws Clovis and Rose Lagae, his brother-in-law Bill Danielson, and sisters-in-laws Marjorie Schachte and Debbie Schachte.
Pat was born and raised in Superior and was a 1962 graduate of Superior Central High School. He attended UW-Superior after a tour of duty in the United States Army. In 1971 he married Eileen and they moved to Milwaukee where he went to work for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Pat was a Supervisor for the State of Wisconsin, Bureau of Field Services and the Vehicle Emission Program for 30 years.
He proudly served in the 128th Air Refueling Wing of the Wisconsin National Guard for 37 years. During that time he was deployed to England, France, Italy, Japan, Germany and United Arab Emirates. To ease into retirement he worked for M&I Bank as a courier. He enjoyed membership in a Golf League for 35 years and completed countless woodworking projects for family and friends. Annual visits to Superior were a source of pleasure as he reconnected with family and life-long friends.
Memorial visitation will be held Thursday, August 16 at the Rozga - Schutte - Walloch Funeral Home. Additional memorial visitation Friday, August 17 at St. Alphonsus Church, 6060 W. Loomis Rd., Greendale, Wis. from 10 a.m. until the celebration of memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. followed by Military Honors. Private Inurnment Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove at a later date.
"He had a loving spirit for life and will be dearly missed by all who crossed his path."
