Ruth Anna Schmidt, 79, of Hawthorne passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012 at Middle River Health and Rehab in Hawthorne.

Ruth Anna Schmidt, 79, of Hawthorne passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012 at Middle River Health and Rehab in Hawthorne.

Ruth was born May 19, 1933 in Hawthorne to the late Iver & Alice (Bond) Johnson.

Ruth married Herbert Carl Schmidt June 16, 1956, he preceded her in death July 2, 2010.

She enjoyed her vegetable and flowers gardens on one acre of land. Ruth loved to read and knit in her spare time.

Among those who survive and gratefully shared her life are her son Dennis Schmidt of Rochester, Minn., three grandchildren: Daniel, Stephen, Margret Schmidt of Rochester, Minn.

She is preceded in death by one son Duane H. Schmidt Aug. 1, 2009, one daughter-in-law Joan Schmidt 2004.

Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 14 at the Hawthorne Cemetery in Hawthorne. Rev. Tom Lindberg will officiate.

What a sweet picture of Ruthie, in her happier times. Rest in peace, Ruth, rest in peace. Thinking of her son, Dennis and family. Was lucky to be able to care for both Herb and Ruth at MR. sincerely, Debbie Wheeler
