Bertyl Nelson, 95, of Superior, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Proctor.

Bertyl Nelson, 95, of Superior, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Proctor.

He was born May 1, 1917 in Port Wing, Wis. to Emma and Hokan Nelson.

He and his wife Marian resided on the family farm in Port Wing, where they raised five children. After leaving the family farm they moved to Wentworth and later in Superior.

Bertyl was a member of Painters Local 106 and of various county and community boards and councils.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian; son, Garland; grandson Brian; and 13 brothers and sisters.

He is survived by daughter, Karen (Bob) Zajac; sons, Rodney (Darlene) Nelson, Bradley (Patricia) Nelson, and Bruce (Colleen) Nelson; daughter-in-law, Mary Nelson; grandchildren, Eric, Jason, Kate, Lars, Haakon, Masha, Robert, Debbie, Jessica, Shawn, and Gary; and great-grandchildren, Conner, Bobby, Giovanni, and Priscila.

Memorials may be sent to Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 1927 Wyoming Ave, Superior.

The family would like to acknowledge the loving care given to Bert by the staff at Diamond Willow Traditions during his time there.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
