Henry S. "Hank" Olson, 67, Superior, died Friday, August 3, 2012, at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.

Henry S. "Hank" Olson, 67, Superior, died Friday, August 3, 2012, at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.

He was born on Aug. 5, 1944 in Superior to Oscar and Ella (Horstman) Olson.

He graduated from the former East High School in 1962 and attended UWS for two years.

Hank had been employed with Smedberg Grocery until joining the National Guard in 1966. He then went to work at the DECC in 1966 when it opened and retired as a labor foreman on June 6, 2006 after 40 years of service.

He married Susan A. Simonson on Nov. 5, 1976 at the First United Methodist Church in East End Superior and celebrated 35 years of marriage.

He was a member of the Delta United Church of Christ in Delta, WI.

Hank was an avid bowler, fisherman and outdoorsman. He really enjoyed the times he spent in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.

In addition to his wife Susan, Hank is survived by six sons, George (Tina) Olson, Proctor, Patrick (Rhonda) Olson, Duluth, Brian (Laurie) Olson, Superior, Dale (Stacy) Olson, Superior, Craig Olson, Warroad, Minn. and Henry Olson, Superior; seven grandchildren, Josalyn, Kylie, Thomas, Cade and Halle Olson, Chelsea and Luke Breimon; one sister, Ruth (James) MacGregor, Superior; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Derrick (Caroline) Simonson and two nephews, Matthew (Jessica) and Nathaniel (Nicole) Simonson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. memorial service on Wednesday, August 8 at United Presbyterian Church with Pastor Joel Huenemann, officiating.

Hank's family would like to thank the entire staff of Fresenius Medical Center and Essentia St. Mary's Medical Center for their excellent care of Hank.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.

Honorary pallbearers for the service will be, John Leikvol, Greg Culver, Mike Culver, Tom Grafmyer, Bob Hom, Kevin Fredericks, John Brown, Walt Bruley, Joe Tarnowski, Dan Russell and Steve Rudh.

Memorials may be made to Hank's family.

To Sue and family, Since sympathy and prayers for all who knew him. I was so sad to hear of his health problems. Haven't seen him in years, but have fond thoughts of him and his willingness to visit when I would see him. Classmate of 1962 Suzie DeBrock
