Gerald L. "Jerry" Correll, 75, of Duluth, formerly of Superior, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Solvay Hospice House, Duluth.
Gerald L. "Jerry" Correll, 75, of Duluth, formerly of Superior, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Solvay Hospice House, Duluth.
He was born in Hiles, Wis., son of Charles Sr. and Bertha (Otten) Correll.
He played guard for the Superior Central High School basketball team that won a state championship.
Jerry's work history included the grain elevators in Superior, Woolworth's, Schultz Brothers, Spirit Mountain and Oneida.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, gambling, and UMD sports.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three grandchildren; brother, Arnie Correll; and step-father, Rudolph Peterson.
Survivors include his daughters, Diane Stumph (Terry Jordan), Trego, Wis. and Donna (Jeffrey) Tripp, Springbrook, Wis.; son, Dean (Jill) Correll, Kent, Ohio; life partner, Delores Suliin, Duluth; step-daughter, Paula Suliin, and step-son, Randy (Taire) Suliin, both of Duluth; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn (Bill) Love, Superior; brothers, Charles "Skippy" (Delores) Correll, and Donald (Pat) Correll, both of Superior; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and the mother of his children, Virginia Correll, Spooner, Wis.
Visitation will be from 12 Noon until the 1 p.m. service, Friday, August 3 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior. Rev. Sarah Kerkes, pastor of Our Savior's Lutheran Church will officiate.
