William R. Ivy

William R. Ivy, 96, of Superior died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, in the Golden Living Center.

William R. Ivy, 96, of Superior died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, in the Golden Living Center.

He was born in Hickory, Miss. on April 6, 1916.

William served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater, and was very proud to be a World War II veteran. He was also proud he was able to go to Washington D.C . on the Honor Flight with his granddaughter last October, he was truly the best of the greatest generation.

He had been employed by Sears as a furniture salesman and retired in 1981.

William was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his daughter, Janet Branley of Superior; two granddaughters, Amy (Andre) Nantkes and Chelsea Branley; great-grandchildren, Cayden, Maddox, Xavier, Karina and William; two sisters, Margaret and Dorothy Moran; and a brother, Grady Edwin Ivy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene in 2010 and an infant daughter, Barbara.

Graveside services will take place at a later date in Flint, Mich.

The family wishes to thank the Golden Living Center nurses and staff for their loving care.
