William "Bill" J. Kauppi, 82, of Superior, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Golden Living Center, Superior.
William "Bill" J. Kauppi, 82, of Superior, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Golden Living Center, Superior.
He was born Dec. 18, 1929, in Glidden, Wis., son of William and Emma (Schweiner) Kauppi.
Bill served his country with the United States Navy.
He worked many years as a brakeman for the former Great Northern Railroad. Railroading was an integral part of his life; however, his greatest love was his family.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; son, Michael Kauppi, Tokyo, Japan; granddaughter, Alexi Kauppi; step-children, Peggy Staples and Don Sharlow; and sister, Ida Barnes.
There will be a visitation from 5 to 6:30 p.m., with a meal following, Tuesday, July 3, at Central Assembly of God, 3000 Hammond Avenue, Superior.
Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, is assisting the family with arrangements.
