Pharielda Byrnes, 99, lifelong Superior resident, died Monday, June 25, 2012, at the Golden Living of Superior.

Pharielda Byrnes, 99, lifelong Superior resident, died Monday, June 25, 2012, at the Golden Living of Superior.

She was born on September 16, 1912 in Superior to Napoleon and Octavia (DeBrock) Rotsaert.

She was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and its Rug Ladies and was the oldest registered member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Belgium Ladies Club Auxiliary.

Pharielda is survived by three daughters, Diane (Jim) Benson, Barnes, Wis., Mary Culhane, Superior, Claire Flaherty, Superior; three sons, Harold (Arlene) Byrnes, Bloomington, Minn., Allan (Nancy) Byrnes, New Brighton, Minn., Peter (Cindy) Byrnes, New Brighton, Minn.; 24 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Anna Nelson, Superior and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Patrick Ozaer; her second husband, Allan Byrnes; her parents; two sons, Leo and Jim Byrnes; four sisters and six brothers.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial on Friday, June 29 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Don Kania, as celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery.

Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Pharielda's family would like to thank the staff at Golden Living of Superior, Shores of Reflection Unit for their care and compassion during her stay.
