Scott A. Young, 48, Superior resident, died Monday, June 11, 2012, unexpectedly at his home.
Scott A. Young, 48, Superior resident, died Monday, June 11, 2012, unexpectedly at his home.
He was born on Oct. 29, 1963 in Duluth to Clair W. and Berdella (Anderson) Young.
Scott graduated from Denfeld High School, and attended University of Minnesota-Duluth for music performance. He was employed by Super One Foods, where he worked as a baker for many years. He was also a member of United Food & Commercial Workers Local No. 1116. Scott pursued his passion for music by touring the United States, performing in the pit orchestras for the Broadway shows, "Cabaret" and "Dream Girls." He also spent a summer in New York playing the shows "42nd Street" and "Big River." Locally, Scott played trumpet with numerous Big Bands in the area; "The Hungry Five," "Dr. Hitt's Big Band," and the "Big Time Jazz Orchestra." Scott had also performed with the DSSO, "Cherry Cola," and many other variety bands. He was also an avid University of Minnesota-Duluth hockey fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Deborah Wildes and his mother-in-law, Gayle Janovick.
Scott is survived by his wife, Sharrie Janovick; three children, Jacob, Nathan and Adam Young, all of Superior; two sisters, Lynn Fallik, Houston, Texas and Terry (Mark) Vedbraaten, McIntosh, Minn.; brother-in-laws, Kevin Wildes, Tahuya, Wash. and Charles Janovick, Superior; sister-in-law, Shelley Janovick, Milwaukee, Wis.; nieces and nephews, Charles (Brittnie) Janovick, Jr., Jessica (Derrick) Stromberg, Logan and Janna Bacon, Matthew Wildes, Christopher, Stacy and Dustin Vedbraaten and his father-in-law, Bill Janovick.
Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, June 16 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1924 Wyoming Ave., Superior and continue until the 1 p.m. memorial service with Pastor Sarah Kerkes officiating.
The Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Ave., Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
