Jerome A. Bengtson

Jerome A. Bengtson, 74, Town of Summit, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012, unexpectedly at his home. He was born on June 5, 1937, in Erskine, Minn. to Erven and Signe (Hamre) Bengtson.

Jerome A. Bengtson, 74, Town of Summit, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012, unexpectedly at his home. He was born on June 5, 1937, in Erskine, Minn. to Erven and Signe (Hamre) Bengtson.

Jerome was a passionate and devoted Green Bay Packer fan; he was committed to "the Pack" win or lose.

Jerome was proud of his farm - Foxboro Farm, loved the woods and all that was in it. He treasured his gelbvieh heifers and calves; he cared for them with great compassion and devotion.

Jerome showed glebvieh cattle and was active in the following cattle associations; American Gelbvieh Association, Tri-County Cattlemen's Association, Central Minnesota Premium Beef Association and Northern Wisconsin Beef Producers.

Jerome also bred and raised a number of elegant, outstanding Registered Norwegian Fjord horses. Mattee and Jake are forever grateful to him for giving them Emily and Max.

In addition to farming, Jerome was employed for the Soo Line and Canadian Pacific Railroad for 38 years before retiring in 1992.

Jerome is survived by his wife Florence; four daughters, Catherine (Barry) Pieper, Hugo, Minn., Sue (Todd) Arcand, Hugo, Minn., Lorraine (Mark) Anderson, Scandia, Minn., Jenny (Mark) Whittaker, St. Paul, Minn.; five grandchildren, Emily Pieper, Maxwell Pieper, Logan Anderson, Lewis Pieper and Mason Anderson; four sisters, JoAnn (Wayne) Cox, Sonja Lippai, Constance Hughes, Jaki Majeski; one brother, Thomas (Fran) Bengtson, step-grandchild Taylor, special friend, LaVonne Buchanan; and many nieces, nephews and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Claudette Mattson.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Memorial service on Friday, June 8 in Bethel Lutheran Church with Rev. Gary Garnatz, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Humane Society of Douglas County, P.O. Box 891, Superior, WI 54880 or to Bethel Lutheran Church.
