Nancy L. Hunter, of Lake Norden, S.D. and formerly of Barnes, Wis. passed away on Friday, May 11, 2012, at the Golden Living Center of Lake Norden.

Nancy L. Hunter, of Lake Norden, S.D. and formerly of Barnes, Wis. passed away on Friday, May 11, 2012, at the Golden Living Center of Lake Norden.

Nancy Lee Standifird was born Feb. 19, 1928, in Bushnell, Ill. the daughter of George and Mabel (Morrow) Standifird. She graduated from high school in Bushnell, IL. On Sept. 26, 1949, Nancy was joined in marriage to Kenneth R. Hunter in Illinois. Together they moved to Barnes, Wis. and managed Point O' Pines Resort on Middle Eau Claire Lake where and Nancy cooked and waitressed. Nancy was an excellent cook and was known for her homemade rolls. She was a member of the Gordon Presbyterian Church, VFW Auxiliary, AARP and HCE. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was a member of the Happy Hookers group.

Nancy is survived by her son, Kenneth Hunter of Lewistown, Mont.; two daughters, Carolyn Hegbloom of Superior, Lorilei Cole of Tomah, Wis.; three grandchildren, Michelle Kennedy, Kirk Hunter and Jonathan Cole; five great grandchildren, Josephine, Anthony, Michael, Paetyn and Ethan; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth (Ray).

A memorial service will be held for Nancy at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 1st at Barnes Town Hall in Barnes, with Pastor Duane Aslyn officiating. A gathering will be held for one hour prior to the service at the town hall. Interment will be in the Barnes Cemetery.
