Miriam Lehto, 92, Brule, died Monday, May 28, 2012, at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Miriam Lehto, 92, Brule, died Monday, May 28, 2012, at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on April 23, 1920, in Brule, Wis. to Matt W. and Mary (Hamalainen) Hakkila.

For many years, Miriam owned and operated a family farm north of Brule where she enjoyed her life of raising her children. She loved to dance and enjoyed playing the piano. She had a great time at her 90th birthday party at the Brule Town Hall.

She also had been employed at the Twin Gables Motel for 17 years.

Miriam was a member of the Waino Pioneer Parish, the Brule Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Brule Guild.

She is survived by four sons, Rodney (Betty) Lehto, Brule, Daryl (Pat) Lehto, Poplar, Wis. Steven (Cheryl) Lehto, Esko, Minn., Stuart (Jules) Lehto, Minneapolis, Minn.; two daughters, Marilyn (Dennis) Barry, New York Mills, Minn., Carol (Brian) Bursch, Golden Valley, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; one sister, Velma Doby, Iron River, Wis. and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Martin on Nov. 12, 1991; two sisters, Aileen Carlson and Helen Copp and one brother, Martin Hakkila.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Friday, June 1, in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home and will continue at 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, June 2, in the Brule Presbyterian Church with Rev. H. Duane Aslyn, officiating.

Burial will be in the Everrest Cemetery in Waino, Wis.
