Marjorie Mae Kern, 87, lifelong Superior resident, died Monday, May 14, 2012 at Golden Living in Superior.

Marjorie Mae Kern, 87, lifelong Superior resident, died Monday, May 14, 2012 at Golden Living in Superior.

She was born on May 28, 1924 in Superior to Harvey O. and Ovedia J. (Vinje) Sandberg.

Marjorie graduated from the former Central High School and also from the Bartley Business School.

She worked as a clerk typist for the Wisconsin Grain Commission for many years retiring in 1987.

She was a member of the Royal Neighbors and St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband Keith Kern, son, Michael "Rex" Kern, her parents, brother John Sandberg and sisters, Irene Leksell, Bernice Christensen and Dorothy Hoven.

She is survived by two sons, Tom Kern, Solon Springs, and Dennis Kern, Superior; two daughters, Kathy Michael, Villa Park, Ill. and JoAnn (Vince) Sirocchi, Kenosha, Wis.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother Howard (Ollie) Sandberg, Superior; daughter-in-law, Renee Kern; and Lori Olson, longtime friend and caregiver.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 18 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church and continue until the 11 a.m. funeral service with Rev. Sarah Kerkes officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.

Pallbearers for the service will be Kevin and Keith Kern, Nick and Chuck Learn and Judd and Tyler Kern.

The Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
