Matthew A. Shaw, 26, Superior, died Sunday, April 22, 2012, in Superior.

He was born on July 13, 1984 in Duluth, to David and Debra (DeMotts) Shaw.

He was employed as a cook at the Hammond Steak House for over 12 years.

Matt was an avid sports fan. He loved the Green Bay Packers, enjoyed playing hockey, baseball and watching all other sports.

He loved spending time with his family and friends and will always be remembered for his classic grin.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Roger DeMotts and his paternal grandparents, Catherine and John Shaw.

Matt is survived by his mother, Debra Demotts, Superior; his father, David Shaw, Superior; one brother, David J. Shaw, Superior; two sisters, Shannon (Chris) Rangeloff, Coon Rapids, Minn., Jennifer (Jason) Carson, Atlanta, Ga.; maternal grandmother, Sharon DeMotts and several niece, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service on Friday, April 27 at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Patrick Ziems, officiating.

Pallbearers for the service will be Robert Heytens, Pat Van Damme, Pat Ennis, Derek Gondik, Jake Bleskan and Garrett Carr.

Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
