Lois Mae Herzog, 87, of Omro, Wis., passed away peacefully, Monday, April 9, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center.
She was born on Aug. 20, 1924, in Rice Lake, Wis., the daughter of the late George and Rose Johnston. She married Lake Paul Herzog on April 9, 1944.
Lois was married to Paul for 43 years and they resided in Superior. She was an accomplished seamstress and she loved making crafts at her home. She also enjoyed gardening, bowling, and dancing. Lois and Paul raised several foster children throughout their lives.
Lois is survived by her foster daughter, Margaret "Peggy" (Jay) Wiechert-Koch; her grandchildren, Shelbie (fiancé Jason Chadwick) Farber-Wiechert, Chad Wiechert, Karlie (Robert) Sawitski; great-grandchildren, Eoghan Farber, Hunter Sawitski, Ellah Chadwick; and her brother, Melvin Johnston.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her two brothers, George Johnston, Robert Johnston; her two sisters, Donna Anderson, and Marilyn Whittaker.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Omro Care Center for their support and loving care they provided Lois for the past seven years. The family would also like to thank Mercy Medical Center for their care and compassionate support.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 13, at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (Westside) at 5 p.m. with Rev. Karen Jewell officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 5 p.m. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.
A memorial will be established in Lois' name, for the Greater Wisconsin Chapter Alzheimer's Association.
A foster mother remains a faithful companion throughout life.
