Elaine O. Willie, 86, of Superior died Saturday, April 7, 2012, at her residence.

Elaine O. Willie, 86, of Superior died Saturday, April 7, 2012, at her residence.

She was born April 29, 1925, in Kerrick, Minn., daughter of Axel and Hannah (Liden) Johnson.

Elaine was a member and deacon of Bethel Lutheran Church and its Ladies Circle, Ladies Aide and Serving Ladies; 50 plus year member of MNO Homemakers, and Bryant PTA and reading program.

Her seamstress talents were reflected in her daughters’ wedding gowns. She also had the inherited gifts of drawing and painting. And, her children will always be grateful for instilling her love of music in them.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Louis J. Willie; daughter, Nancy Lou Hawley and infant daughter, Donna Willie; foster daughter, Phyllis Lee; brothers, Norman, Carl, John and Jim Johnson; and sons-in-law, Alfred Crase and Jeff Nelson.

Survivors include her children, Sue Crase, Julie Nelson and Michael Willie; foster children, Linda Engebretson, Nancy Joan Kessey, and Sally Sahr; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Lillian Rotilie; son-in-law, Gary Hawley; special friend and sister-in-law, Rose Willie; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Tuesday, April 10 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 5821 John Ave., Superior. Rev. Gary Garnatz will officiate.

Should friends desire, memorials in Elaine’s name may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Encompass Assisted Living for their love and compassion for their mother. They also wish to thank all of the musicians who provided beautiful music.

Elaine enjoyed the Florida trips with Rose, Jackie amd myself. She was a very special person. The family has sustained a great loss.
