Elsie Irene Dennis, 91, lifelong Douglas County area resident, died Tuesday, April 3, 2012 while at her daughters in Yuma, Ariz.
She was born Jan. 6, 1921 in Maple to August and Esther (Niemenen) Heino.
She attended Maple Corner School and Superior Central High School.
Elsie married Clarence "Ed" Dennis in 1940 and celebrated 57 years of marriage until his death in 1997.
She was a lifelong employee of the Midland Wholesale Cooperative, retiring from the Maple Co-op Store in 1982 after 30 plus years of dedicated service.
Her favorite past-times included bingo, playing cards with her friends and an occasional trip to the casino.
Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Ed; her parents; and her siblings, Martin Heino, Arvid Heino, Ray Heino and Martha Mustaine.
She is survived by her children, Richard (Zora) Dennis, Scotts Valley, Calif., Rita (Wes) Siegel, Yuma, Ariz. and Paul (Candace) Dennis, Superior; her grandchildren, Marvin Siegel, Amber Dennis, Stanley Dennis, Louis Dennis, Andrew Dennis and Greg Dennis; six great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth (Bob) Baillie, Brule; a brother, Leo (Ruth) Heino, Maple; a special friend, Jane Gullicksrud, Maple, and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Elsie's life is planned for a later date.
Burial will be in St. Anne's Cemetery, Blueberry.
The family wishes to thank Hospice Care in Yuma, Ariz. for the care shown to Elsie.
